 PNR AMENDMENTS IN SABRE

In this tutorial, following topics will be covered. Please keep in mind that most of the amendments can be done only before saving the booking file and some of the amendments are allowed  even after completion of the Booking File (PNR).

1.     How to increase the seats in the itinerary

Answer: ,2  (comma is the command and number 2 is the number of seats required)

2.     How to change booking class (RBD)

      Answer: WC1Q or WCAQ or WC1-2Q (WC is the command+segment    no+class)

3.     How to cancel itinerary/Booking and Rebook

     Answer: XI or X1 or X1-4 or X1,3  (XI is the command+segment number)

4.     How to delete passenger name          

     Answer: -1.1 ¤  or -2.1 ¤ 

5.     How to change Date of Birth of Child or Infant

    Answer: -2.1 ¤ *12JAN15

How to Waitlist a Flight Segment ( Itinerary)

Same as any GDS, Sabre System also has the option to get waitlisted a flight segment. HK is the status code of the confirmed flight segment, at the same time HL is the status code of waitlisted flight segment. Keep in mind that status codes of the flight segments before saving the booking file, will be SS (confirmed) or LL (wait listed). Waitlisted bookings will get confirmed as per the priority basis. A confirmation message will be send to your queue by the Airline and flight segment status code will be changed to KL, when the booking is confirmed.

How to sell flight segment (Itinerary) in Sabre system

Itinerary is a mandatory field in booking file of any GDS. Once after finding out the flight availability, next step is to sell the required segment in availability display. As I stated in my previous bog post, numeric letter is the starting command which is '0' (Zero) followed by number of seats required, class of service and line number from availability display.

How to check flight availability in Sabre system

Checking flight availability in Sabre system is very simple and easy to memorize. Numeric number 1 followed by date and city pair is the command to find the availability in Sabre system. Entering specific airline code, departure or arrival time and booking class (RBD) are optional. Most of the commands for PNR creation in Sabre start with numeric numbers. Followings are some useful  Sabre system availability entries in the daily life of a Travel Agent.

Sing-in and Sing-out of Sabre System

Sing-in Sabre System

The Sabre System has six work areas, named as A, B, C, D, E, F. You can sing in all six work areas of the Sabre System by entering as asterisk ( * ) prior to your identification (Used ID) number.
Each every Sabre connected travel agency is issued an initial EPR (Employee Profile Record) and a password. You will use this User ID and password to sing in Sabre system.

Following are the steps to Sing in Sabre system:

Step 1  - Type SI* followed by your agent identification number     Example-  SI*xxxx

Note : Your password must be seven to eight alpha/numeric characters, cannot contain the letters Q and Z.

Sabre System Keys with Special functions

Here are some most important special functional keys in Sabre System. Understanding about the functional keys will help you to move ahead for your training in Sabre.
¤ Change key: Used in conjunction with system entries to change, delete or calculate information.          This key is located just beside letter 'P' in the keyboard.
‡  Cross of Lorraine: Used as a plus sign and to separate parts of an entry that combines related                 functions.
